Treks for children
ALPA-K can organise short treks for families with young children. To minimise risks, we will focus on acclimatisation before departure. In addition, so as not to prolong the walking days and to make the expedition fun, we will organise a donkey or horse with saddle for each child, depending on their age.
Ideally, your children will be no younger than 6 years old, but requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, especially according to their physical condition and the time spent at altitude before such a trek.
Detailed program
Trek Quilcayhuanca D1 : Huaraz - Portada Quilcayhuanca - Pampa Cayesh
The Quilcayhuanca trek is perfect for young and old alike. After just an hour's drive, we discover the bucolic atmosphere of the Quilcayhuanca valley. On this first day of trekking, we'll be walking less than 9km through a flat valley. If we're lucky, we may spot condors or Andean foxes, species that are very present in the valley.
Once we reach the camp, we'll have a clear view of Nevado Chinchey (6309m), which has a touch of Alpamayo about it.
(Walking time: 4/5h, D+210m, D-320m)

Trek Quilcayhuanca D2 : Pampa Cayesh - Lac Tullpacocha - Pampa Cayesh
On this second day of the trek, we'll make a return trip to Lake Tullpacocha, at the bottom of the valley. The colour of this lake will amaze young and old alike. Afterwards, we'll head back to camp.
Optional: for the more courageous, in the afternoon we can also discover the Quebrada Cayesh. This 6.7km round trip will allow us to appreciate the beauty of the Maparaju (5326m).
